Managing Repository Connections

To define a new connection configuration, just open the “File” —> “Options” dialog and press the Add… button:

The connection configuration dialog allows you to enter the connection parameters such as connection name or login information. The user should contact the repository administrator for login information and to retrieve the connection. The example and explanation below are based on the default values defined by the process modeler default installation (which can be altered by the database administrator) and may differ from the actual situations.

Each connection must have defined a “friendly” name to distinguish between different database instances. Next, you have to select the connection type (MSSQL, ORACLE or MySql). If ORACLE is selected you must decide between using tnsnames.ora or manually defined database connection parameters.

Furthermore, for ORACLE you have to chose a provider for the connection (depending on what type of provider is installed on the client machine).

If the connection type is MSSQL, you should set the server location. For Server, enter the machine name on which the database instance is running or enter the IP address of the server. The database name is by default pmrep if not explicitly changed by the database administrator. In the authentication field you have to enter the user login which is by default pmuser. For the appropriate password consult the database administrator.
The connection will be added to the connection list. If this is the only connection in the list, the flag “default” will be set (shown next to the connection name).

If the database connection configuration is invalid or does not have administrator privileges, you will be prompted by the following error messages:

Unable to connect to the currently selected server…
Pmuser must have admin rights

Note: If you have any trouble defining your appropriate database connection configuration, consult your database administrator (DBA) for details. You will see the repository root folder with the  Unused documents system folder if all settings are properly set.

Otherwise the explorer shows an empty tree. If the repository is not licensed you will find more information on licensing the repository.
